La Vienta earned a Grammy nomination in 1994, and was at #17 on Billboard’s Contemporary Jazz Charts. La Vienta performed from New York and San Francisco to sold out concert venues and never failing standing ovations. As quoted by Jazz Times Magazine: "The stated mission of LA VIENTA is to capture the feel of the desert southwest. Through the guitar-based compositions of Mario Otero and German born, Texas-Bred Stefan Schyga, the wide open romantic flavor is achieved with finesse. Many of LA VIENTA'S tunes are as light and ethereal as the wind which translates the band's Spanish Moniker". Their music is still on the Telarc Concord label, and is being sold around the globe. In 2002 La Vienta’s songs were released on Guitarra Romantica Vol.3 along with Paco de Lucia, Baden Powell, Carlos Santana and Pepe Romero. In 2007 La Vienta was invited to play with the great guitar legends of our time at Copper Mountain Colorodo on July 29 and 30. On the bill were the greats: Joe Satriani, Tommy Emmanuel, Tim Reynolds, Joe Bonnamasa, Sonny Landreth, John Jorgenson and of course La Vienta. La Vienta is still performing and have been asked to take part in a concert series in Aspen, Colorado this winter. Both Mario and Stefan have released successful solo albums and are happy to announce that they are currently working on La Vienta’s 4th album.
